CES: G-Tech Offers G-Mini For Mac Mini

G-Technology has announced G-MINI, a companion for Mac mini computers.
Designed to complement the look and feel of the Mac mini, G-MINI features FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 connectivity and incorporates a 3-port FireWire repeater and a 3-port USB hub. By stacking G-MINI directly under a Mac mini, up to 750 GB of additional storage can be added to the system to manage large music, video and digital photo files. A variable speed fan and integrated heat sink provide optimum cooling to ensure reliable operation and trouble free operation.

"G-MINI is the perfect solution to expand the storage capacity and flexibility of any Mac mini or iMac computer," said Roger Mabon, President of G-Technology, Inc. "With storage capacities up to a roomy 750 GB, three powered FireWire 400 ports and a 3-port USB hub, G-MINI supercharges Mac mini and iMac systems."

G-MINI will be available in February 2007 in 250, 320, 500 and 750 GB capacities with list prices of $199, $229, $329 and $599 respectively and carries a two-year factory warranty.

Intel Core 2 Duo-based MacBooks Unveiled

Apple has unveiled its new line of MacBook consumer notebooks that now include Intel Core 2 Duo processors which makes it up to 25 percent faster than the previous MacBook and up to six times faster than the iBook

With prices starting at $1,099, the new one-inch thin MacBook lineup includes three models—white 1.83 GHz and 2.0 GHz MacBook models, and a black 2.0 GHz MacBook model.

"MacBook has helped drive Apple's notebook market share to over 10 percent in US retail, and the new MacBooks will be among this holiday season's most exciting new products," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "With Intel Core 2 Duo processors across the entire line, these new MacBooks are up to 25 percent faster than their predecessors."The MacBook includes Apple's MagSafe Power Adapter that magnetically connects the power cord to the MacBook and disconnects under strain, preventing the notebook from falling off its work surface. It also features MagSafe Airline Adapter that makes using a MacBook on an airplane convenient by connecting to in-seat power ports for use through out the flight. The MacBook includes Apple's Sudden Motion Sensor, designed to protect the hard drive in case of a fall, and Scrolling TrackPad for scrolling through long web pages or panning across large photographs.

The lightweight MacBook design includes built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), making it easy to take anywhere. Each MacBook includes built-in 10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 400 port, combination analog and optical digital audio input and output ports and a mini-DVI video output to connect up to a 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display.

The MacBook comes with iLife '06, the next generation of Apple's suite of digital lifestyle applications featuring iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, GarageBand and iWeb, the latest iLife application that allows users to create websites with photos, blogs and podcasts and publish them on .Mac for viewing by anyone on the Internet. The MacBook also comes with the latest release of Mac OS X version 10.4.8 Tiger, including Safari, Mail, iCal, iChat AV, Front Row and Photo Booth, running natively on the Intel-based notebook.

The new MacBook is available immediately through the Apple Store , Apple's retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers. The Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter is available for a suggested retail price of $59 (US).

MacMice To Ship Danger Mouse In Red

Endgaget has reported that MacMice, has released a refresh of its Danger Mouse in red, and has decided to donate a portion of the profit—$3—it makes from the sales of the mouse to the Peace Village School and Orphange in Kenya, Africa.
The new mouse by itself is a standard garden variety laser mouse, capable of 1600 DPI. It is expected to retail at $30 and is currently available only via pre-order with a $6.99 charge to ship it anywhere.
