HP Launches Pavilion Elite m9000 Desktops

HP has unveiled its latest high-end desktop series for the Indian market, HP Pavilion Elite m9000. This new range comes with an eye-catching high-gloss finish and has a full range of matching peripherals i.e. a matching mouse and a wireless keyboard that is dockable beneath the monitor. In terms of design the desktop is accentuated by the signature HP Zen Imprint detailing.

The m9000 series offers a range of powerful processors and add-ons. The machines are built with Intel Core 2 Quad processors, Windows Vista Premium and NVIDIA GeForce 8 series graphics cards. It also comes with a Format Blue Laser Combo Drive - one single drive which can read both Blu Ray and HD-DVD formats. These new machines are also the first Terabyte Home PC in the country with an internal 1TB of HDD space.

“HP is redefining home entertainment with our new power-packed HP Pavilion Elite m9000 series that introduces several firsts, including the first ever high-definition Terabyte PC with one touch back-up. This further consolidates HP’s leadership position in lifestyle computing, to facilitate a paradigm shift in digital entertainment habits of home users. The Indian PC market has witnessed a series of innovations by HP that set the trend for the market, and this will set yet another benchmark for the industry,” said Rajiev Grover, Director – Consumer Products, Personal Systems Group, HP India.

The price for these models, start at Rs. 38,000 and top out at over Rs. 75, 000 for the highest-end versions.

Dell Launches XPS All-In-One Range

Taking a leaf out of Apple’s book, Dell has launched an All-in-One PC that combines the display unit and CPU into a single cohesive unit. This makes it similar to the normal range of Apple desktops i.e. the system comes only with a widescreen display, mouse and keyboard. The CPU/GPU and other components reside inside the display.
The introduction of this new unit, has been done with 4 different segments in mind. They are the Essential One (budget market), the Music One ( Audio Enthusiasts), Performance One (Gaming and CPU intensive use) and Entertainment One ( for multimedia enthusiasts). Each of these systems will come with base models consisting of 250 GB HDDs, 2 GB of system memory, a TV tuner and a remote control. The Music One system will come with wireless headphones and the entertainment system will come with an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro graphics card with 256 MB of memory

Apart from these systems each of these desktops commonly come with a with a single cord for power, while any other connections are handled wirelessly out of the box, including the wireless mouse and keyboard. All systems include built-in Wi-Fi for network connectivity and internal Bluetooth 2.0 connecting peripherals like headphones and printers.

These systems will also come with with Adobe Elements Studio software preinstalled, including Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and Premiere Elements 4 software as well as Adobe Soundbooth CS3. These software are being provided to promote multimedia creativity.
